In a recent TripIt survey, nearly a quarter of Americans said they travel for special sporting events, like the Olympics, World Cup, or Grand Prix.
Heading to Paris this summer for the games? Here are six ways TripIt can help you make the most of your time there:
1. Keep your travel plans organized
Flights. Accommodations. Restaurant reservations. Tickets to support your nation’s teams. TripIt will instantly organize all of it. Simply forward your confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and in a matter of seconds, TripIt will create a comprehensive itinerary for your trip.
“I’m always planning multiple trips and always months ahead of time. Sometimes I’ll forget I’ve booked something, like a food tour, because I’ve planned it so far in advance. But I don’t have to sort through months of emails, because all of my plans automatically sync to TripIt.” - Raimee Iacofano, travel expert and digital content creator
Want to automatically add your travel plans to TripIt? Turn on Inbox Sync so you never have to remember to forward your booking emails again. And that way, all of your plans—no matter where or when you booked them—are in one place.
2. Prepare for the weather—and potential travel disruptions
Summer in Paris? It can be hot—and last summer, it experienced a heat wave in late July. Be prepared for your trip by monitoring TripIt’s IBM-Powered Weather Forecasts. You can find weather forecasts on the plan details screen for plans with a single address/location. This includes lodging, restaurants, and activities, such as sporting events.
Historical weather data will be shown for your destination 10+ days out; the daily forecast will be shown within 10 days of plans along your itinerary.
You can also stay in the know about other potential impacts to your trip, like airport incidents, labor actions (e.g., strikes), and sudden weather events, with TripIt Pro Risk Alerts.
With Risk Alerts, you’ll receive timely notifications when there’s a potential airline or airport incident that may cause your plans to go awry—even before they result in a flight delay or cancellation. That way, you can make informed decisions and stay agile as unexpected situations arise.

3. Navigate your way around Paris
You’ve arrived in Paris and you’re ready to explore. TripIt’s Navigator feature helps you get from point A to point B more easily. Select starting and ending destinations from addresses in your itinerary (or your current location) to get directions through your mapping app. You’ll find estimated costs and travel times for each option (when available), so you can decide which works best.
Then there’s Map View. When looking at your trip in Map View, you’ll have a pin for each plan so you can see where you’re going next and get an idea of the distance between all of the locations in your trip.
You can also navigate to the plan details screen or get directions from Map View, making it even easier to get from point A to point B during the course of your trip. Simply tap any pin on the map to see the plan in the carousel at the bottom of the screen or swipe through the carousel to see the map for a particular plan. You can then tap “See Details” to see the entire plan or “Get Directions” to open up your phone’s map app from any location in your trip.
4. Discover what’s close to you
Whether you’re in search of coffee, a croissant, or croque monsieur, TripIt’s Nearby Places feature can help you locate all of the above—and much more. The feature spotlights nearby cafés, bars, and restaurants close to the addresses within your itinerary.
Should you need medical help while traveling, Nearby Places also makes it easy to find hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies close to where you’re staying. The feature will also show you an interactive map with each option tagged so you can see where it is in relation to your accommodations. You can easily get directions or tap the plus (+) sign to save the information for later.
5. Know the level of safety of the neighborhoods you’re visiting
Whether it’s your first or tenth time visiting Paris, cities are dynamic places and neighborhood safety can change between visits—and even vary block to block.
Thankfully, TripIt’s Neighborhood Safety Scores shows you the level of daytime and nighttime safety for the neighborhoods you’re visiting.

You can access hyperlocal safety ratings for myriad categories along any point within your TripIt itinerary, including scores for overall safety, health and medical, physical harm, women’s safety, political freedoms, theft, and LGBTQ safety.
You can also set a personal risk level within the feature so that TripIt warns you if you’re planning to visit an area that exceeds your safety threshold.
6. Share your travel plans
Finally, keep loved ones back home in the know about your trip by sharing your travel plans. That way, they know where you are and how to get in touch.
“I always give someone back home like my mom or a good friend our itinerary in case of an emergency so they know where to reach us, where we should be, and when we are expected to be home.” - Kamree Price, family travel expert and founder of Our Family Passport
